The Marwadi Meghal, a community believed to have migrated from Marwar region of Rajasthan are famous for their leather work. Adept in leather craft they live and work closely with Maldhari cattle herders. The men usually undertake the leather work and women emblish these with embroidery with multi coloured threads. The tradition of copper-coated bells originated in Sindh region. The mail members in the family make the bells and set the sound with the aid of an instrument called ekalavai. The sound from the bell depends upon 3 factors:shap and size of the bell, the size, shapre and thickness of the wooden strip and the form and curvature of the bottom of the bell.
