This particular Tree of Life work has been created exclusively for Aporv by Vasant, the master craftsman from Mysore. Vasant has been working on this craft for over 2 decades and has taken this up from his father who worked on this craft earlier. He employs anywhere between 5 - 25 people based on the work load to get the work done. The process is of creating this product is quite tedious. First the design is traced on a piece of paper. This paper is then taken as a trace to cut the different coloured wood in the desired shape. Then these pieces are painstakingly glued together to form the picture as per the design provided. This takes anywhere between 2-3 days. Once glued this is then pressed, earlier it was done manually, but now with the advent of new machines and also to save time the wood is pressed using a pressing machine. This takes a day or two depending upon the size of the image and the intricacies. Then the wood is dried. After that is processed through manual sanding and then finally the product is polished to give the glaze. This actual piece of art took Vasant 8 days to create.

Marquetry is the art of creating decorative designs and pictures by skillfully utilizing the wood grain, figure and colors of thin veneers, and sometimes other materials such as shell or ivory. While the exact origins of marquetry are unknown, it is believed to have its inception in ancient Egypt where inlays were used in the palace of King Mausolus around 353 BC, located in modern day Turkey.
